I have a purse fetish. Its serious. I don’t always have the money to purchase the purses I fawn over, but oh how I love purses. So when I found the template to create a Hermes’ Kelly Bag from paper, I about fell out of my chair and began hyperventilating. For those of you who are not quite the purse fetish kind of gal, the Kelly Bag was named after Grace Kelly after she was spotted carrying one and using it to hide her pregnant stomach from the paparazzi in 1956. Yes, you young’uns out there, the paparazzi were even around before you were born! The photos made the cover of Life magazine and a legend of a purse was born. Here is a photo of a real Kelly Bag…

And here is my little paper Kelly Bag made from Graphic45 paper.
Okay, so my stitching is crooked and my little paper bag is only about 4 inches across, but it is just too adorable and works fabulous as a gift card holder. Maybe I could give someone an Hermes’ gift card inside my Hermes’ Kelly Bag creation? Well girls, they would have to be a very, very precious friend to receive an Hermes’ gift card. You see, the REAL Kelly Bag up there? It costs $12,000! Yes, look at all those zero’s! But my little bag? It only cost me one piece of patterned paper, some thread, and some Distressed Stickles. I think, for now (and quite possibly for all of eternity), I shall be happy with my little version and leave the real bags to someone else!
Here’s a link to the pattern and in case you are worried about copyright issues, this pattern is from Hermes’ themselves. They published it on their website for many months, up until 2008, so no worries! Have fun and enjoy your very own Hermes’ paper creation!
